    Description Foundations of Accounting is an introduction to accounting as the means of recording, summarizing, and communicating events of the business enterprise. Basic accounting fundamentals and concepts that underlie the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements will be explored. The use of accounting information by business management in planning and controlling operations will also be emphasized. Exposure will be given to such topics as budgeting, performance evaluation, and relevant decision-making, cost behavior, and cost accumulation techniques.

  • ACCT 541 - Forensic Auditing and Fraud Examination


    3 cr hrs

    Description This course is an introduction to forensic auditing designed to detect employee asset misappropriation and fraudulent financial reporting. It examines various aspects of forensic accounting/auditing, fraud prevention and detection, including the sociology of fraud, elements of fraud, ethics, types and costs of fraud, use of internal controls to prevent fraud, and use of technology in fraud detection. This course also covers basic aspects of internal auditing and operational audits performed by internal auditors.

  • ACCT 585 - Accounting Standards and Ethics


    3 cr hrs

    Description The course will analyze and reflect on ethical theories, ethical values, and, most significantly, ethical decision making, all in the context of the accounting profession and the obligation to serve as “watch dogs” for those affected by financial scandals. The course will cover the currently developed professional codes of ethics designed to avoid future ethical breakdowns. The overarching goal of the course is to develop the student’s ability to identify ethical situations, make an ethical decision, and successfully defend that decision in the accounting profession.

    Description The concepts that addiction treatment is a continuum from intervention through continuing care is emphasized along with students learning and demonstrating clinical treatment procedures. Students also practice the administration of screening and assessment instruments to identify addiction and other related problems in conjunction with developing an individualized treatment/continued care plan.     Description This course covers gambling and the process addictions, which are considered impulse control disorders in the DSM-V. These disorders are widespread and varied.     Description This course provides an in depth examination of advanced legal and ethical issues within the addiction profession. Students will integrate critical thinking with ethical decision making. Topics include (but are not limited to): CFR-42, HIPAA, emergency and involuntary commitment procedures, code of ethics, moral principles and virtues, multicultural perspectives, internet therapy and boundaries. In addition we will explore current ethical issues in the profession and what changes should be made for best clinical practice.

    Description

    Incorporate developmental neuroscience, epigenetics, ACE, and NEAR Science from ACE Interface.  Learn the biological, psychological, and social effects of trauma exposure to develop skills in building therapeutic relationships and creating safe environments to promote healing.  Analyze clinical counseling strategies for clients that have co-occurring mental health conditions, substance use disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders.  Learn to assess the risk levels of suicide, environments that provide ongoing support and safety, and address the aftermath of suicide.

    This course is designed to review the components of delivering telehealth along with knowing the associated rules, regulations and risks involved in this type of e-therapy. Topics may include needs assessment, determining the potential causes of a performance problem, active learning design and games, social networking, e-learning, consulting skills, and evaluation, including transfer from the classroom to on the job.     Description The structure and function of the human central nervous system is studied in detail, as are deficits that might result from neurological conditions.  Structural, physiological, and molecular aspects of neuroscience are studied.
