AHED 775 - TRENDS AND ISSUES IN TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT


3 cr hrs

Description This course is intended to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field of training and development and how it has changed dramatically over recent years. Students will gain the ability to analyze issues and make intelligent decisions regarding workplace learning and performance for employees of all types of organizations. Topics may include needs assessment, determining the potential causes of a performance problem, active learning design and games, social networking, e-learning, consulting skills, and evaluation, including transfer from the classroom to on the job. Students will have the chance to further investigate a training issue of interest to them as well as to design an ideal training room. Finally, students explore careers in training and development. Whenever possible, tours will be provided to training facilities.
