2-3 cr hrs

Description A survey course that has incorporated traditional “Law and Medicine” materials with contemporary “Law and Policy” analyses of the American Health Care System. The course examines provider- dominated health care, its transformation from professionalism to commercialism, and the role of economic policy, medical politics and the law in its formation. It provides a virtual laboratory for the application of the law of insurance, torts, contracts, tax, with special emphasis on antitrust law.
