CJUS 480 - Crime in Indian Country This course is designed to provide students with a critical analysis of crime and justice/injustice in Indian country. This course begins with a brief overview of the legal statutes that recognize the sovereignty of tribal nations and the complex criminal jurisdictional issues when a crime occurs on Indian land. The class will examine the status of crime among Native Americans, the causes of crime, the current application of the law, and the role of tribal governments and courts to restore harmony and strengthen justice to their nations.
