A summary of the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree follows. This summary incorporates regental and institutional requirements as well as requirements specific to the B.A. and B.S. degrees. All students must meet regental and institutional graduation requirements in addition to College of Arts and Sciences requirements. Students should consult their academic advisor for guidance in fulfilling degree requirements.

Writing 7-9 credit hours
Two courses (3 cr. each) must meet the general education requirement in writing (SGR Goal #1). The third course must fulfill the upper-division intensive writing requirement. Oral Communication 3 credit hours
Course must meet the general education requirement in speech (SGR Goal #2). Social Sciences 12 credit hours
Courses must be in at least two disciplines, and must include two courses (in different disciplines) that meet the general education requirement in social science (SGR Goal #3). Humanities-Fine Arts 23 credit hours
Notes:
Lower-division language courses meet the general education requirement in arts and humanities (SGR Goal #4). Students who have taken substantial language courses in high school may be able to satisfy the language requirements by taking more advanced courses in that language at the University. Contact the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Philosophy for more information. Mathematics 3 credit hours
Natural Sciences 6-8 credit hours
Two sequential courses with laboratories in a single discipline. The courses selected must meet the general education requirement in the natural sciences (SGR Goal #6). Globalization/Global Issues 3 credit hours
Course must meet the institutional graduation requirement in globalization/global issues and may simultaneously meet additional requirements for the degree, major, and/or minor.

One-year sequence of foreign language courses 8cr
Aesthetic Experience 3cr Mathematics 5-10 credit hours
Choose either Option A or Option B as listed below. Either option meets the general education requirement in mathematics (SGR Goal #5):
OPTION A (5 credit hours):
Complete the following course with a grade of “C” or better. OPTION B (10 credit hours):
Complete at least three credit hours from the following: In addition, complete one of the Sequences listed below, totaling at least seven credit hours.
Natural Sciences 12-18 credit hours
Four courses in two or more disciplines, including two semesters of sequential laboratory science in one discipline to meet the general education requirement in natural sciences (SGR Goal #6). Globalization/Global Issues 3 credit hours
Course must meet the institutional graduation requirement in globalization/global issues and may simultaneously meet additional requirements for the degree, major, and/or minor.
