The Master’s degree is offered with the option of Plan A (thesis) or Plan B (non-thesis).

Master of Arts, Kinesiology & Sport Science, Plan A (thesis): Total 30 or 39 credit hours
Plan A (thesis): Total 30 or 39 credit hours
- Required departmental core 6 credit hours
- Thesis 6 credit hours
- Required core non-departmental 3 credit hours
- Select a specialization or electives from among the specialization courses. 15 or 24 credit hours
Core Requirements for Plan A Thesis: 15 credit hours
Departmental Core Requirements - 12 credit hours
Non-departmental Core Requirements - 3 credit hours
Departmental Non-Core Requirements for Plan A Thesis: 15 or 24 credit hours
Note: The Master of Kinesiology in Sport Science is offered with a specialization in either Exercise Science or Sport Management but a specialization is not required.
MA in Kinesiology and Sport Science with No Specialization
Electives from among the specialization courses 15 credit hours
MA in Kinesiology and Sport Science with Exercise Science Specialization
Exercise Science specialization coursework 15 credit hours
MA in Kinesiology and Sport Science with Sport Management Specialization
Sport Management specialization coursework 24 credit hours
Master of Arts, Kinesiology & Sport Science, Plan B (non–thesis): Total 33 credit hours
- Required departmental core courses 6 credit hours
- Required non-departmental core course 3 credit hours
- Required core PE/KSS Electives 9 credit hours (For Exercise Science Specialization only)
- Select a specialization or electives from among the specialization courses 15 or 24 credit hours
Departmental Core Requirements: 6 or 15 credit hours
Non-Departmental Core Requirements – 3 credit hours
Departmental Non-Core Requirements for Plan B non-thesis: 15 or 24 credit hours
Note: Students have the option for a MA degree without a specialization or a MA degree with a specialization in either Exercise Science or Sport Management.

MA in Kinesiology and Sport Science with Exercise Science Specialization: Total credits including core coursework requirements and specialization coursework is 30 credits for Plan A (thesis) and 33 credits for Plan B (non-thesis).**
**Note: For Plan B (non-thesis) with an Exercise Science Specialization an additional 9 credits of electives is required. See core requirements for Plan B (non-thesis). Sport Management Specialization Coursework: 24 credit hours
