28 HOURS

The American Indian Studies Department’s program hinges on versatility and is designed to enhance and to be compatible with many disciplines as a double major, particularly in the fields of Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Education, English, History, Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine and other health sciences, Journalism, Media, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

Students must complete the program’s core requirements (13 credit hours) and 15 hours of courses selected from the above listed electives for a total of 28 hours. Double majors do not complete AIS 490, Seminar (Capstone), but must take the research methods requirement for the companion major. A minimum of 6 hours of elective credits must be taken at the upper-division level. No more than 3 credit hours in independent study/topics/seminar courses may be used to fulfill requirements for the double major.
