The Women’s Studies minor focuses on women as central participants in and subjects of the diverse intellectual traditions that make up the liberal arts. The minor may accompany any major in the College of Arts and Sciences, and will be found particularly useful by students whose career goals demand high levels of analytical and critical thought and skills in interpersonal relations: hospital or school administration, business, consulting, counseling, education, human resources, journalism, law, medicine, psychology, religion, social work, and sociology.

Minor Requirements

To complete the 18-hour minor in Women’s Studies, students must take three hours of WMST 201 and an additional 15 hours from the courses listed below with the restriction that no more than six hours may be taken in any one prefix area.

Note:

Special topics courses, seminars, experimental courses, independent studies, and directed readings offered in any academic area and focusing on issues of concern to women’s studies may also be applied to the minor with permission of the Coordinator of Women’s Studies and subject to the six-hour disciplinary limit.
