Native Studies, B.A.


36-37 MAJOR HOURS, 128 DEGREE HOURS 

The general major requires 36 hours, including 20 hours of required core courses. Beyond the required core courses, students must complete sixteen (16) hours of electives from LAKL and/or NATV, of which at least nine hours must be at the upper-division level (300-400). Students may elect a Native Studies major with specialization either in Oceti Sakowin Oyate Studies or Lakota language.

In addition to the core requirements, students select at least 16 hours from the following Native Studies courses:

Oceti Sakowin Oyate Studies Specialization (Optional) 17 credit hours


Native Studies Major with an Oceti Sakowin Oyate Studies Specialization (37 hours).

For this specialization, in addition to the core requirements, students must take the following Native Studies courses:
