Four-Year Program Guides

Four-Year Program Guides

To help our students plan for completing and paying for a degree in four years, we provide these plan of study guides as well as a total estimated cost for the total four-year, 120 credit hour program.

A variety of common factors may affect completion in four years. For example, some students may need to enroll in Math and English courses to prepare for the required courses listed in the four-year plans; some students may pursue two majors; and many students change their major before they graduate. Students should always consult their academic advisors before completing their schedules.

The estimated costs are calculated for the full four years to complete the program based on the current year tuition and fee rates. Room and board, books and other living and incidental expenses are in addition to the costs listed. Estimates for those costs are available through the undergraduate Admissions Office. Other factors may impact estimated costs such as additional required courses, change of majors, and tuition and fee increases in future years approved by the Board of Regents. Prospective students should consult the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for assistance. Current students should direct their questions to the Business Office at: 605-658-3650 or businessoffice@usd.edu.

Cost difference between programs is due to the use of laboratory or discipline fees collected to benefit the student. SDBOR policy 5.5.4 notes that program fees shall be used to purchase instructional equipment and supplies and pay other operating costs for high cost disciplines. The funds are also available to supplement salaries for faculty within the discipline. The dollars should be used such that they benefit the students enrolled in the discipline.
