ELED 753 - THEORIES OF LANGUAGE LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT, AND LITERACY 3 cr hrs
Description This course is designed to acquaint students with seminal research in language and relationship to early literacy acquisition. Readings will focus on the role of language in literacy learning, diversity of pathways to literacy acquisition, the social constructive nature of literacy acquisition, the child as a literacy learner, the reading-writing connection, the nature of text as it supports literacy acquisition, and characteristics of children in early stages of literacy acquisition.
