POLS 466 - American Political Thought (C) An examination of the history of American political thought as expressed in the works of major political philosophers, thinkers, and statesmen. The course considers a range of topics including the tension between equality and inequality in our constitutional system and mores; slavery and its after-effects; wealth and poverty; aristocratic excellence and democratic mediocrity; and the inherent tensions between individualism and community.
