DCOM 595 - PRACTICUM 1 to 6 cr hrs
Description Applied, monitored and supervised, field-based learning experience for which the student may or may not be paid. Students gain practical experience; they follow a negotiated and or directed plan of study. A higher level of supervision is provided by the instructor in these courses than is the case with field experience courses.
Prerequisites and Corequisites Prerequisite: DCOM 131 - Introduction to Communication Disorders, 211 - Phonetics, 212 - Language Development, 221 - Audiology, 224 - Speech Science, 334 - Clinical Methods in Communication Disorders, 421 - Hearing Science, 432 - Aural Rehabilitation, 25 supervised observation hours, and a GPA of at least 2.7. Permission of the instructor is required.
Notes Supervised clinical practice working with speech, language and hearing impaired adults and children.
