DCOM 717 - GENETICS OF HEARING LOSS

Description This course will cover fundamentals of human genetics as it relates to hearing loss, including basic biomolecular aspects of genetics, Mendelian and non-traditional modes of inheritance, pedigree construction, and molecular aspects of syndromal and non-syndromal deafness. Particular focus will be on genetic and epidemiologic aspects of deafness, indications for referral for genetic testing, bioethics, and cultural issues in the Deaf community.
