DCOM 717 - Embryology and Genetics Related to the Auditory System

Description This course will cover fundamentals of human embryology and genetics as they relate to the auditory system, including basic biomolecular aspects of genetics, Mendelian and non-traditional modes of inheritance, pedigree construction, and molecular aspects of syndromal and non-syndromal deafness. Particular focus will be on genetic and epidemiologic aspects of deafness, indications for referral for genetic testing, bioethics, and cultural issues in the Deaf community.
