PHTH 748 - Pediatric Physical Therapy I


2-4 cr

Description This course builds upon clinical, behavioral, and foundational physical therapy sciences as well as professional practice and patient/client management expectations to develop examination skills, clinical reasoning, evaluation competencies, evidence-based interventions, and goal-directed plans of care specific to the unique needs of the pediatric population.

Prerequisites and Corequisites
Pre-requisite: Registered in Professional Physical Therapy Curriculum

Notes
The emphasis of this course will be on the acquisition of knowledge for the role of a pediatric physical therapist in a school system, medical based facility and independent practice. Anatomical, developmental and psychosocial sequences will be examined in order to provide the base for normal growth and development from birth-21 years. Clinical and therapeutic knowledge will be presented in order to foster examination, evaluation and treatment skills of the students with this unique population.
