PHYS 765 - Advanced Nuclear Physics (C)

3 cr

Description This one-semester course is aimed at bridging the gap between standard textbook material and research literature. It will be illustrated how the nuclear physics and technology introduced in prerequisite courses are applied in nuclear medicine, industry (ion implantation for example), archaeology (radiocarbon dating for example), and astroparticle physics (neutrinoless double beta decay search, supernova evolution for example). Participants will be guided through one or several applications taken from those fields in great detail.  It provides necessary training for those who intend to work in a discipline where nuclear science and technology plays an important role.

Prerequisites and Corequisites
Prerequisite:  PHYS 761 - Nuclear and Particle Physics (C)

Notes
(C) Denotes common course.
