PHTH 712 - PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND ETHICS 3credit hour(s)
Description This course is required of all physical therapy students enrolled in year I of the professional course of study. The study of the role of the physical therapist as a health care practitioner interacting within the context of the health care environment is emphasized. Relationships between physical therapists and patients, clients, families, caregivers, health care providers, and colleagues in the practice setting are discussed. The role of effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ethical decision making in the patient care process is addressed. Written communication and medical documentation as well as patient advocacy and patient education responsibilities of the physical therapist are discussed.
Prerequisites and Corequisites Pre - requisite: Registered in Professional Physical Therapy Curriculum
