Welcome to the Division of Kinesiology & Sport Science at the University of South Dakota. Kinesiology is the study of physical activity as it relates to enhancement of human functioning, such as teaching health and fitness. The Sport Science program is an undergraduate major comprised of two specializations: Exercise Science and Sport Management. The emerging student professional, whether in a laboratory, school, clinical, or business setting, is ultimately involved with improving the health and overall well-being of people. The Kinesiology & Sport Science major includes courses that explore human movement as it affects and are affected by physiological, mechanical, psychological, developmental, cultural, and organizational concepts.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Gladys Leonard Scholarship (available to junior, preferably female Physical Education majors)
  • Bobb Lyon Scholarship (available to first-year students majoring in Physical Education)
  • Ray Palmer Scholarship (available to sophomore or junior Physical Education or Recreation majors)
  • Virginia Patri Scholarship (available to Physical Education or Recreation majors, 2.6GPA; work with disabled children and adults)
  • HPER (available to sophomore, junior or senior demonstrating leadership in HPER club)
