The Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences of the Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota provides a variety of course and program offerings at the undergraduate, professional and graduate levels. The goals of the Division are: (1) outstanding teaching of anatomy, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology and immunology, neuroscience, and physiology and pharmacology, (2) faculty research, (3) training of graduate and undergraduate students in research, and (4) public service. In the rapidly changing fields that encompass Basic Biomedical Sciences, we believe outstanding teaching can best be accomplished by outstanding faculty researchers and educators. Undergraduate courses offered by the Division cover many sub-disciplines of Basic Biomedical Sciences. The primary goal of each undergraduate course is to provide students interested in biomedical or health sciences a suitable base of knowledge for their future

The Division also has a graduate program leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Basic Biomedical Sciences.
