Program Description

This program differs from other science programs in that it has been designed specifically for middle and secondary education teachers. It is a summer program at the university so that individuals who are currently engaged in teaching during the school year can complete the program. Its purpose is to better equip science/math teachers whose teaching assignments differ from their primary area of expertise. This degree is offered in cooperation with South Dakota State University.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must have an undergraduate degree that has qualified the applicant for teaching in an area of science or math in a middle- or secondary-school setting.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 2.7 or graduate GPA of 3.0.
  • Applicant must have a Secondary Teacher Certificate.

- Subject to faculty approval, those who do not meet all of the criteria above may be admitted on a provisional basis.
