The College is administratively structured to include the Departments of Art, Music, and Theatre, the Black Hills Playhouse, the National Music Museum, and the University Art Galleries. The College of Fine Arts prepares students for life-long engagement with local and global communities through education in Art, Music, and Theatre. Our dedicated faculty inspire students by challenging them to strive for excellence in creative scholarship/research.

The Board of Regents (formerly known as the Regents of Education) established the College of Fine Arts on September 25, 1930. The Department of Art is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design; the Department of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music; and the Department of Theatre is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The National Music Museum is an accredited member of the American Association of Museums.
