French and Francophone Studies (B.A.)

The French program at USD is cooperatively delivered with NSU and SDSU.

Notes


Students with a high school or other background in French may earn credit by examination for introductory and intermediate level courses. Consult the Credit by Examination policy in the Academic Policies  section of the catalog for details.

Students are encouraged to study abroad for a semester or a year, usually during their junior year. Credit for FREN 385: Travel and Study Abroad in Francophone may be available.

Course availability may vary due to collaborative scheduling. Please consult the department for more information about course options and possible substitutions.

The Department of Language, Linguistics & Philosophy also sponsors occasional faculty-led programs to French-speaking countries (ordinarily during the summer) in which students may be interested. In addition, USD students may study on exchange at the University of Pau, France.
