Admissions Information
The goal of the graduate program described here is to develop professionals who can add substantially to the field with original and ongoing work as well as to perform effectively as practitioners on the job.
A graduate program reflects the implicit assumptions about the knowledge, skills, and philosophy of the field of study. Consistent with this, considerable evidence shows that learning is facilitated when the student/learner participates in the process of learning. The Adult and Higher Education program encourages the student/learner to be a participant in the process, to choose directions, make worthwhile contributions, and satisfactorily live with the consequences of one’s choices. This educational climate of encouragement directly affects the program by providing stimulation, and relevance to an individual’s educational experience.
The force behind this approach is the need to keep up with and expand knowledge for the benefit of all segments of society. This represents a challenge to the program, the institution and most importantly to the student/learner.
