The Archaeology Minor was developed so that students could explore the world of the past from the perspectives of Classics, Ancient History and Anthropology.

Required course for all students:

ANTH 230 - Introduction to Archaeology (C) [SGR #3]

Additional requirements (select at least 1 course from each category)

Students must take at least one course from each of the three programs:

Anthropology

ANTH 270 - Museum Techniques (C)
ANTH 300 - North American Prehistory
ANTH 320 - South Dakota Prehistory (C)
ANTH 431 - Archaeological Field Techniques (C)
ANTH 490 - Seminar (C)
Other courses with prior approval of faculty

Classical Humanities

CLHU 404 - Greek Art and Archaeology
Other classical humanities course approved by the chair of the Anthropology Department

History

HIST 422 - Ancient Rome (C)
HIST 492 - Topics (C) (Must have archaeology content)

Note:

Anthropology majors must select 18 hours from the above list because it is not possible to count ANTH 230 for both the major and minor. Any course counted for the Anthropology Major cannot be used to complete this minor.
