Nursing (A.S.)-LPN to RN

Note:

The LPN to RN student must complete all general education courses (30 hours) and departmental requirements. Anatomy & Physiology I (PHGY 220 /220L ) with a C or above must be completed prior to admission to LPN to RN.

Beginning the 2015/2016 academic year, LPN/PN to RN students will receive 8 credits for LPN license and be required to complete 3 full semesters of nursing coursework including NURS 202, NURS 261, NURS 282, and NURS 286.

Support coursework requirements will include:

• Completion of PHGY 220  /220L  before NURS 261  
• Completion of PHGY 230  /230L  prior to or concurrent with NURS 261  
• Completion of MATH 102  prior to or concurrent with NURS 282  

Note:

1.   Required sequence
      a.   PHGY 220 and PHGY 220L must be completed prior to enrolling in NURS 261.
      b.   PHGY 230 and PHGY 230L must be taken prior to or concurrent with NURS 261
      c.   MATH 102 must be taken prior to or concurrent with NURS 282

2. The LPN to RN student must complete all general education courses (30 hours) and departmental requirements (27 hours) with a C or above.

3.   Contact and Credit hours
      a.   Contact Hours
            Theory: 1 credit hour = 1 contact hour per week per semester
            Learning Lab/Clinical: 1 credit hour = 3 contact hours per week per semester

      b.   Nursing credit ratios
            NURS 202 1:0 (1 credit hour = 1 theory hour) 
            NURS 261 5:4 (9 credit hours = 5 theory hours and 4 clinical/lab hours) 
            NURS 282 4:4 (8 credit hours = 4 theory hours and 4 clinical/lab hours) 
            NURS 286 4:5 (9 credit hours = 4 theory hours and 5 clinical/lab hours)
