The Archaeology Minor was developed so that students could explore the world of the past from the perspectives of Classics, Ancient History and Anthropology.

Required course for all students:

ANTH 230 - Introduction to Archaeology (C) [SGR #3, HSDC]

Additional requirements

Students must complete 15 credits of the following, including at least one course from each of two groups:

Anthropology

ANTH 270 - Museum Techniques (C)
ANTH 300 - North American Prehistory
ANTH 320 - South Dakota Prehistory (C)
ANTH 340 - Historical Archaeology
ANTH 431 - Archaeological Field Techniques (C)
ANTH 435 - Human and Animal Osteology
ANTH 490 - Seminar (C) (if topic is related to Archaeology)

History, Classical Humanities, and Region

Note:

Other courses approved by the chair of the Anthropology Department.

Any course counted for the Anthropology Major cannot be used to complete this minor.
