Departmental Requirements (22 hours)
Plus 6 hours:
One course required from EACH of the following alternative requirement pairs. Plus 3 hours:
Required capstone for majors. Elective Courses (15 hours)
In addition to the 22 hours of coursework above, 15 hours of electives must be selected in at least two disciplines from the following American Indian Studies courses. A minimum of 9 hours of elective credits must be taken at the upper-division level, for a total of 37 hours. No more than 6 credit hours in independent study/topics/seminar courses may be used to fulfill requirements for the major.
No prerequisite coursework or instructor permission required, but AIS/HIST 257 Early American Indian History & Culture and/or AIS/HIST 369 Modern American Indian History & Culture Since 1867 recommended. Additional Coursework
Permission of the instructor or prerequisite coursework is required and/or recommended for the following courses. Consult appropriate department course listings in current undergraduate catalog.
