Distribution Requirements: A summary of the divisional distribution and common degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree follows:

English Composition 6 credit hours
Oral Communication 3 credit hours
Social Sciences 12 credit hours
Must be in at least two disciplines. Humanities-Fine Arts 23 credit hours
Must include fourteen credit hours in one language other than English (French, German, Greek, Lakota, Latin, or Spanish). Students who have taken substantial language courses in high school may be able to satisfy the language requirements by taking the second year courses in that language at the University. Remaining hours must include ENGL 210, three credit hours of non-language humanities, and three credit hours of aesthetic experience. Mathematics 3 credit hours
Must include at least: Natural Sciences 8 credit hours
Two sequential laboratory courses which total 8 hours in one of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics (including astronomy). IdEA Program 6 credit hours
English Composition 6 credit hours
Oral Communication 3 credit hours
Social Sciences 12 credit hours
Must be in at least two disciplines. Humanities 12 credit hours
Must include three credit hours of any non-ENGL General Education humanities course, ENGL 210, three credit hours of aesthetic experience, and three hours of any humanities course. Mathematics 10 credit hours
In order to complete the mathematics requirement for a BS degree a student must: OPTION A: Complete the following course with a grade of “C” or better.
OPTION B: Seven credit hours of sequential math courses from the list below.
Note:
MATH 341/342 Math Concepts for Teachers I/II will not be accepted as credit for fulfilling core mathematics requirements nor mathematics requirements in the B.A. and B.S. degree programs.
No sequence needed if placed directly into MATH 123 and receive a grade of “C” or better. At least three credit hours in either:
- any STAT course
or
- disciplinary statistics
Natural Sciences 14 credit hours
Must be in two or more disciplines, including eight hours of sequential laboratory science in one discipline. IdEA Program 6 credit hours
