Deaf Education Minor

Program Requirements (18 hours)

• DCOM 212 - Language Development *
• DCOM 423 - Auditory Assistive Strategies and Technology, and Communication Development in Persons Who Are D/HH *
• DCOM 428 - American Sign Language I (C)
• DCOM 429 - American Sign Language II
• DCOM 496 - Field Experience (C) (3 credit hours required)

• ELED 470 - P-12 Literacy Methods for English Language Learners
• SEED 470 - P-12 Literacy Methods for English Language Learners

Note:

*DCOM 212 and DCOM 423 can be used to satisfy the requirement for a major in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as a minor in Deaf Education.

Students who complete a Communication Studies and Disorders major are allowed to complete a Deaf Education minor.
