Four-Year Plan
The following is an example of a four-year plan. Students may have individual reasons for changing the order of the curriculum. Students may also have advanced placement in language and so it is important for students to consult with their advisors before completing their schedules. First Semester 14-17 hours
Second Semester 15-17 hours
Second Semester 18 hours
Electives 12cr
FREN Elective 3cr
Humanities-Fine Arts/Elective 3cr Note
Students are encouraged to study abroad for a semester or a year, usually during their Junior Year. Additional Requirements (9 hours)
Course Availability may vary due to collaborative scheduling. Please consult the department for more information. Nondepartmental Requirements
French Studies majors are strongly encouraged to take HIST 121/122 in partial fulfillment of the social sciences requirement and should consider taking ML 440/LING 403 in partial fulfillment of the humanities requirement. It is also strongly recommended that the French Studies major elect at least one course in world literature in fulfilling the Humanities requirement. In addition, majors should seriously consider participating in study abroad programs, especially if they are pursuing a teaching career. The Department of Language, Linguistics & Philosophy also sponsors occasional study tours to French-speaking countries (ordinarily during the summer) in which students may be interested. |
