Housing
University Residence Halls
The University provides residence hall accommodations for students in six traditional residence halls and two apartment/suite halls. Graduate students are welcome to live in University Housing as space allows, with the exception of Beede, Olson, Richardson, and Mickelson Halls. These Halls are reserved for undergraduate students. Coyote Village and McFadden are suites and apartments with private bedrooms and shared bathroom with one other person. Burgess/Norton are traditional mixed-class halls with shared rooms and restrooms. Floors in Burgess Norton are by gender. Off-Campus Housing
Vermillion offers a variety of rooms, apartments, mobile homes, and houses for rent to University students. The University is not responsible for off-campus housing and it is considered an entirely separate entity. Students must make rental arrangements with the individual landlords. Writing Center
The Writing Center helps students improve their writing skills and consults with students on any type of writing assignments. Students can schedule an appointment online at https://usd.campus.eab.com, email wcenter@usd.edu, call 605-677-5626, or stop by the Writing Center location in Room 133 Academic Commons (I.D. Weeks Library, first floor). The Online Writing Center (in the Learning Management System) connects distance students with writing consultants.
Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA)
GPSA, in addition to planning social events, organizes workshops beneficial to graduate and professional students and functions as an advocacy group with aims to improve school policies regarding the needs of graduate and professional students. Study Abroad and Exchange Courses
International travel and study abroad enhance a student’s resume with experiences and skills that are difficult to obtain in any other way. There are numerous exciting educational study abroad opportunities available to graduate and professional students. These experiences may be during the semester or summer.
USD offers direct exchange program opportunities in such countries as Australia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Spain, Lithuania, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, South Korea, and Wales. In most cases, students pay USD tuition and receive credit toward their program of study. In addition to the direct exchange programs, USD has affiliations with third party program providers that offer hundreds of locations around the world. Through the National Student Exchange, students are also able to affordably study at over 175 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To determine if study abroad is possible or appropriate for their program, students should consult with their graduate advisor and then meet with a study abroad advisor at the Gallagher Center.
International Student Support
The GIC supports international students from the time of application through to graduation and the completion of Optional Practical Training (OPT). Current students have access to a full-time international student advisor who provides immigration-related compliance advising and support, and employment services for OPT and Curricular Practical Training (CPT). The office also sponsors orientation programs and cultural programming.

The University of South Dakota- Sioux Falls supports their students’ well-being and academic success by providing a part-time mental health clinic on campus. This clinic is a training clinic under the supervision of a licensed professional. This clinic provides individual therapy at no cost to USD-SF students. The Psychological Services Center provides high quality evidence-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Our services include individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, diagnostic assessment, and consultation. Our team provides support, education, and mental health services to individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss, among other concerns. For children and adolescents, we can help with promoting healthy development, such as coping skills, social skills, parenting skills, toilet-training, sleep, and eating, as well as addressing concerns such as defiant/aggressive behaviors, ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, and depression. The Counseling and School Psychological Services Center provides supervised clinical training for graduate counselor and school psychology trainees and serves as a resource to the community. Coyote Care is Powered by Christie Campus Health. Coyote Care is a program that connects students to a 24/7 clinic support line staffed exclusively by licensed mental health professionals. The support line provides access to unlimited clinical support, risk assessment, connections to therapy and other next steps, emergency response, identifying students of concern and reporting. The service can be used by all students, whether on or off campus or abroad.
