SOCW 716 - Trauma Informed Social Work Practice

Description This course will explore the intersection of traumatic experiences with legal, political, and structural oppression, power differentials, and the disproportionate distribution of material and social capital. Through a strengths-based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, students will understand the importance for comprehensive assessments of trauma experiences and how social work intervention can guide services when appropriate.
Prerequisites and Corequisites Registration Restriction: Graduate student status.
