ELED 753 - THEORIES OF LANGUAGE LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT, AND LITERACY 3credit hour(s)
Description This course is designed to acquaint students with seminal research in language and relationship to early literacy. Readings will focus on the role of language in literacy learning, diversity of pathways to literacy acquisition, the social-constructive nature of literacy, the child as a literacy learner, the reading-writing connection, the nature of text as it supports literacy, and characteristics of children in early stages of literacy.
