The Beacom School of Business was originally established at The University of South Dakota in 1927 and is currently located in Patterson Hall. The Beacom School of Business is accredited by AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for both the B.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees, and is proud to be the only AACSB accredited school in the state of South Dakota. The Beacom School of Business is dedicated to offering nationally recognized quality programs. Its reputation is built on the quality and success of its students who hold responsible positions in public accounting firms, prominent businesses, hospitals, government, and higher education throughout the United States.

Graduate degrees offered by the Beacom School of Business include the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Health Services Administration (M.B.A./HSAD) and the Master of Professional Accountancy (M.P.A.). All of these programs are available on the Vermillion campus located in the southeast part of the state. The M.B.A. program is also offered on a part-time basis to meet the needs of students employed during the day. The Cohort Express program is a part-time, face-to-face program offered in Sioux Falls. Cohort Express participants progress through the program in a lock-step manner, taking classes one night a week in Sioux Falls and completing the degree requirements in as little as twenty-two months. Beginning in fall 2007, the USD M.B.A. will also be offered online to meet the needs of those living throughout the state as well as worldwide. The online courses will be offered so that students can complete the program in as little as two years. Students have flexibility with respect to when they complete the residency portion of the program. In addition, the M.P.A. degree may also be obtained at night in Sioux Falls, S.D.
