18 Credit Hours Required

Minor Requirements (12 hours)

 The following courses may be taken in either the ELED or SEED prefix: 

• ELED 462 - Teaching English as a New Language (C)
• SEED 462 - Teaching English as a New Language (C)

• ELED 464 - Linguistics and Language Acquisition for P-12 ELL Teachers
• SEED 464 - Linguistics and Language Acquisition for P-12 ELL Teachers

• ELED 466 - P-12 Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for ELL
• SEED 466 - P-12 Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for ELL

•  

• ELED 470 - Literacy Methods for ELL & D/HH Learners
• SEED 470 - Literacy Methods for ELL & D/HH Learners

•  

• 1 credit hour of practicum:

• ELED 395 - Practicum (C)
• SEED 395 - Practicum (C)

Electives (6 hours)

• Language course (language other than English) 0-3 cr hrs*

• *Students are required to either take 3 credits of a language other than English or provide documentation of at least one semester of a language other than English on their high school transcript (grade of C or better). Students may also use AP or CLEP credit to fulfill this requirement.  English Language Learners, bilingual students, and students who communicate using American Sign Language (ASL) or another form of sign language may request a waiver from the program.

Note:

No more than 7 hours can be applied to both the ELED major and ENL Minor.
