The Division of Kinesiology and Sport Management is a multi-faceted program that serves a diverse population of students interested in exercise science and sport management. We prepare students by integrating scientific knowledge, sport business practice, research-based education, practical skills and pedagogical theory that results in an exceptional educational experience.

Student Learning Outcomes for Kinesiology and Sport Management (B.S.)

Sport Management specialization

  1. Students will assess their peers’ contributions to team tasks, interactions, and the quantity and quality of their participation in team discussions. 
  2. Students will comprehensively explore issues, ideas, artifacts and events before accepting or formulating an opinion or conclusion, and combine or synthesize existing ideas, images or expertise in original ways reflecting a high degree of innovation, divergent thinking, and risk taking. 
  3. Students will be able to assess their own ethical values and the social context of problems, recognize ethical issues in a variety of settings, think about how different ethical perspectives might be applied to ethical dilemmas and consider the ramifications of alternative actions. 
  4. Students will engage in purposeful, ongoing learning activities that improve their knowledge, skills and competence in their personal and professional lives. 
  5. Students will design, evaluate, and implement a strategy to answer an open-ended question or achieve a desired goal. 
  6. Students will be able to systematically explore issues, objects or works through the collection and analysis of evidence that results in informed conclusions or judgments and break down complex topics or issues into parts to gain a better understanding of them. 
  7. Students will demonstrate foundational knowledge of the Sport Management field, including concepts and theories across core sub disciplines. 
  8. Students will employ effective, professional written and oral communication skills across multiple platforms. 
  9. Students will utilize critical thinking skills to address legal and ethical issues facing sport managers and organizations. 
  10. Students will apply concepts learned throughout sport management coursework in practical settings.

Exercises Science specialization

  1. Students will employ effective, professional written and oral communication skills across multiple platforms.
  2. Students will use critical thinking skills to evaluate and synthesize current trends in Exercise Science.
  3. Students will comprehensively explore issues, ideas, artifacts and events before developing an opinion or conclusion, and then they will creatively combine existing concepts or expertise in an original manner, demonstrating innovation, divergent thinking, and a willingness to take risks.
  4. Students will be able to systematically explore issues, objects or works through the collection and analysis of evidence that results in informed conclusions or judgments and break down complex topics or issues into parts to gain a better understanding of them.
